Ever been drowning in beautiful artwork your children have created? I sure have! I have the hardest time throwing away their sweet scribbly drawings and pancake people paintings (every circle is a beloved member of our extended family apparently!! ;).
When we started Classical Conversations, I knew I wanted a way to store my children’s artwork from community day so that we could compare their progress through the years. BUT I didn’t want to be swimming in it as it floated through our house, or to have it somewhere that the baby could obtain it to feed it to our dogs. ENTER the CC student binders!
I am a CC tutor of apprentices (ages 5 – 8). and I figured the students in my class would appreciate having all of their artwork in one place where they could keep it safe. Throughout the first quarter, I took some pictures of my students with my phone. Some were taken during presentations, some while they were working on projects, and even a staged one where I stood them separately and said, “smile!” 🙂
I combined them into a printable pdf using canva (a free online designing tool) with a class photo and each student’s name. Then I had the page printed on card stock at Officemax. They have wonderful discounts worked out with CC if you bring in your CC discount card! (If you are a member of a CC community, register HERE)
Then I used each student’s picture page as the cover of a 1/2 inch binder. If you buy a binder like THIS you can slip the cover page in quickly and have these put together in a snap! Then I hole punched all of their drawing’s and put them in the binder.
These were super simple to put together and I am so very glad to have my children’s artwork all safe in one place. Next year I plan to use these binders for more than just their artwork. I am going to keep their best work in there as a portfolio of their favorite projects and work throughout the school year.
Do you have a creative way to keep your children’s artwork from flooding you out? Do you use binders to keep your student’s work organized? Comment below and let me know!
