Skills to Nurture in Your Children
When you’re homeschooling, it can be super easy to focus on really core curriculum subjects. Sometimes, you’ll really want to make sure that you’re able to educate your children in every single subject, that you’re focusing too much on subjects. Now, while the key areas of schooling are so important, you will also want to make sure that you’re nurturing wider skills in your children for the benefit of their future too.
Checkout these three skills you can nurture in your children today for a brighter tomorrow!
Communication Skills
So first of all, there are communications skills. Sure science is important and art is interesting, but one thing that every single person needs to be able to survive in their lives, is strong communication skills. Not only can this aid in their careers, but it allows them to function and express themselves as an adult too. I am so glad Classical Conversations community days provide excellent opportunities for children to become effective in their public communication skills!
Money Skills
Next, you’re going to want to teach your kids about money. So, children learn about numbers and math, but not always about money, finances, and financial health. But these are core skills that can help them to live independently and enjoy a fruitful future as adults. Plus the Bible has a lot to say about what we are to do with the provisions God has given us. Learning how to manage money while we are young, prevents the difficulties that can arise from poorly managing finances. Money management skills helps to add another string to their bow career-wise too.
Career Skills
And, on the subject of careers, you might want to think ahead to what they may need to learn to help their careers too. Paying attention to your child’s gifts, talents, and interests can help you to encourage them towards their God-given calling in life. Helping your children to acquire the skills they will need to set them up for life is one of the many reason we homeschool in the first place!
You’ll find that key character training and life skills like being kind to others and compassionate today, can translate to customer service skills tomorrow. But sales skills, as outlined in the infographic below, can give them an advantage in the future too.
