Keeping little hands busy during Thanksgiving prep can be a challenge! There are some things during holiday prep time that children simply can’t help with. Especially if we are low on time before guests arrive, or we have somewhere we need to be!
With a little bit of upfront work, your holiday prep can be a breeze. Keep your kiddoes giggling at the table while you deal with the hot ovens and sharp knives!
DIY Turkey Cups
(gobble gobble! 😉 )
Supplies You’ll NeedÂ
Clear plastic or brown paper cupsÂ
(Note* use short cups for crayons or large cups for dry-erase markers)Â
Scissors
Construction paper in yellow, orange, red, and brown
Google eyes
Hot glue sticks and your trusty rusty glue gun 😉
Instructions
- Cut construction paper into leaf shapes (or you could use real or artificial leaves), with two red, two orange, and one yellow leaf per cup. Also cut orange construction paper into triangles as beaks and red construction paper as the turkey wattle, one for each cup.
- Cut a yellow circle for each turkey head.Â
- Use the hot glue to make a turkey face out of your google eyes, turkey beak, and wattle on top of the yellow circle. Glue one completed face to each cup. Flip the cup over and use the glue to attach the tail feathers on the back.
- Once the glue has set, add crayons to the cups.
- Print your placemats and enjoy the fun this Thanksgiving!
This year we are using crayons, but next year I am going to laminate the placemats beforehand and turn my kiddoes loose with dry erase markers!
