Why do we homeschool with a Christian basis?
I remember the day very clearly. I was standing in the kitchen, contemplating life with a new baby ( I was pregnant at the time).
I was thinking about School, Jobs, and just Life. And it hit me.
Homeschool.
I was homeschooled through High School, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
But, Heavenly Father was now telling me to Homeschool my kids.
Let me tell you.
I WAS THRILLED.
And I still am!!
How do we keep our Homeschool Christ-Centered?
While there are really loads of ways you can do this, I want to talk specifically about how to do it with History.
One reason I decided to homeschool, is Jesus is left out of a lot of the History in Schools. People have started to debate if he was even a real person! Like, what???
Curriculum
So, when I went looking for a History Curriculum, I wanted one that would talk about Christ. That would tell us how he was important- and incorporate that with everything else we are learning.
I found Mystery of History.
And boy. It. Did. Not. Disappoint.
It is a Christian worldview, and it is Chronological.
Meaning, it goes in order of worldly things that happened… but also things in the Bible.
Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and so on.
So we learn about all of them as a whole!!
Another way we keep our History Christ Centered is by the amount of books we check out at the library- that are Gospel Based.
We check out Magic School Bus, Learn to Read Books, and many more like most people. But you can always find me in the Section, checking out Books about Jesus. Books about Mary. Books about Jonah, or Joseph, or Moses! We absolutely love learning, and we love learning about the Gospel.
Morning Time
The first thing we do in School is Pray. It gives us inspiration, and calmness before starting. And then immediately after, I read my kids the scriptures and they write in their journals.
It puts us on the right track right away.
What about you? Why do you homeschool?
