Host the Best Family Fun Nights
There are so many benefits to having regular family fun nights. They build family unity and give you something to work towards as a team. Sometimes we use them as a reward for accomplishing a specific goal throughout our homeschool week. For example, if we are struggling with having positive attitudes, we will reward striving towards happy hearts in our homeschool with a family fun night!
You are able to host the best family fun nights without scouring Pinterest for hours or staying up until wee hours of the morning creating themed crafts and games. Chances are your kiddoes will have just as much fun (or maybe more!) with these fun family night ideas. All you need is something fun to do together and some yummy food or treat and viola! Instant fun night success 😉

Game Night
Having a family game night is one of our absolute favorites. My kids will do ANYTHING to be rewarded with board game time with us. Because we have a toddler, we have to be careful with what kind of games we are playing. Some of our tried and true favorite family games for ages toddler, preschooler, and early elementary (and adults too! ;)) are listed below.
Quirkle is probably our all-time favorite! The little ones can play with or stack the tiles, while everyone else plays. It is great for pattern, color, and shape recognition as well as strategizing!
Who Shook Hook is another great one. The littles can play with the extra treasure pieces while everyone takes a turn trying to get the treasure off of Captain Hook’s hammock, without knocking him off! This one is great for fine motor skills and the art of balancing objects.
5 second Rule Jr. is a fun thinking game. You have 5 seconds to name three things in the category you are given (like crayon colors or zoo animals!). We don’t use the 5-second timer for our youngest players, so that they can participate as well. It is hilarious to hear what everyone comes up with, and we end up laughing until our sides hurt every time!

Movie Party
Second only to game nights are family movie nights! We pop some popcorn in our favorite popcorn maker then pick a favorite movie or documentary to watch together. Some of our family favorites are Veggie Tales, Monsters Inc., Frozen, Life, and What’s in the Bible movies. We all enjoy watching aminal and wildlife documentaries, so we find some like Wild Africa on Netflix or buy them used on Amazon. What’s better than popcorn, snuggling on the couch, and discussing the amazing God who created these mind-blowing animal features? <3
Invite a Family
Inviting another family over for a family fun night automatically allows you to host the best family fun nights! Every now and then we clean our house up enough to actually invite other humans over (haha! 😉 ). A lot of these evenings are spent with the adults visiting and the kiddoes playing, but we try to make a habit out of scheduling an activity we can do together as families. For example, we currently have an indoor community pool where we can bring friends. So everyone eats something easy for dinner (frozen pizzas or crockpot soup!) and we all head out for some family fun and fellowship with our friends. 🙂
Themed Party
These DO NOT have to be Pinterest worthy to be memory-making family traditions. As long as you call it a party and have fun together, its a hit! We usually do these per our children’s request. Once they wanted a Minion themed party (or family fun night). So I made mini foods – baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, tater tots, and mini beef franks. We drank “minion juice” a.k.a. lemonade and watched Despicable Me together. Easy peasy and the kids remember it three years later. We have had princess, ninja-turtle, and Frozen themed fun nights too! Keep it simple, let the kiddoes help with any idea planning or decor making, and it’s totally a par-tay!
