Having children means that there is way less time for cleaning. This is a good thing, though, as there is way more to life than just dusting and washing – and running around after your kiddoes is way more fun, in any way. Oh, and did I mention there is exponentially more mess? 😉
Yet, it would be nice to enjoy that smell of a clean and fresh home as often as possible without having to spend precious time on cleaning or precious money on hiring someone to clean it for us. (Who has time for that!?)
Here are a couple of ways how you can do exactly this so that cleaning can become something you hardly notice that you’re doing anymore. Alright, it might not be that easy – but at least it will be way quicker. 😉
#1 Have the kids help
If they are old enough to dump the toys, they are old enough to help clean up! When they’re around the age of three – four, however, they can certainly start to help out by wiping things down and helping to tidy the place up.
Children love to help out, in any way, and it’s best to take advantage of this while they’re still little. As they grow up, doing chores will be such a part of their routine that it will become a built in habit.

#2 Avoid the Stainable
When you have pets or many young children, you know that there are certain materials you might want to steer clear of. White couches, for example, stainless steel that’s prone to finger marks – and a house covered in white silk carpets.
You can still have all of this, though, as long as you’re prepared to put in that extra effort at keeping it clean. It is easier to keep carpets stain free in the first place than to try to remove sticky peanut butter or permanent marker from them (ask me how I know 😉 ).
#3 Clean little by little
Every parent dreads the day of the week when we need to clean the entire house. It’s a massive chore and some people choose to even do their laundry on this day when they could have divided it up through the week instead to avoid making it a hassle.
If you manage to do a bit of cleaning every day, you won’t have a massive mess on your hands- and the house won’t even have time to get properly dirty. Plus adding it to your daily homeschool routine can cultivate excellent habits in your children!
