Time Management Secrets Every Homeschool Mom Should Know
Time is a homeschool mom’s most precious resource, but it’s one that gets used up far too quickly. (Can I get an amen??) When you have subjects to teach, meals to cook, household chores to complete, groceries to buy, and any number of other things to get done each day, twenty-four hours never. seems. like. enough. I mean, how do you get it ALL done? Unfortunately, there’s no way of extending your days, (trust me I have tried 😉 )but you can learn to manage your time well and make better use of the hours you already have. With that in mind, here are some time management secrets every homeschool mom should know.

Establish A Daily Routine
Figuring out a routine that works for your entire family is far from a simple task, but, once you’ve found your rhythm, everyone will be a whole lot happier and calmer. This is because you will all know what you should be doing at any point in the day, which will cut out the need to make any decisions. This will result in smoother transitions between things you need to accomplish and less wasted time.
Eliminate Distractions
When you and your children are trying to do school, the last thing you need is a distraction or interruption to ruin your concentration. This will make it much harder to focus back on the task at hand, wasting precious minutes. For this reason, you should do what you can to eliminate your biggest distractions. You could start by limiting phone time and other devices such as Ipads during school time.
Let Go And Delegate
Whether you like it or not, you aren’t superwoman and can’t do everything in life all on your own. Thankfully, you don’t have to. Instead of attempting all of the chores yourself, you could hire help, like a homeschool high schooler to babysit or help you clean. You can even outsource your science or foreign language studies! There are really enthusiastic homeschool mamas who would love to help you teach your children the subjects you are dreading. This also helps to free up your schedule, so you can really focus on the subjects you love to teach!
Teach Multiple Children at the Same Time
Your children may be different ages, but that doesn’t mean that you need to teach them all separately. Instead, you can save time by teaching all of your children at once, adjusting individual tasks and requirements based on age and ability. Of course, this won’t be possible with certain subjects but could be with science, Bible, and history! We love using Bible Brick Challenges for Bible and Homeschool in the Woods for multi-age history!
Learn To Meal Plan
Just like a routine, a meal plan can make everyday life a whole lot simpler. This is because it eliminates the need to make meal decisions each day and also gives you the opportunity to prepare certain foods ahead of time. Knowing what you want to prepare to eat each day of the week also means that you can buy all of the ingredients at once, saving you from daily trips to the store.

Prioritize Your Self Care
Unfortunately, none of the tips above are going to be of much use unless you take proper care of yourself. If you’re skipping meals and losing sleep, then you’re never going to perform at your best. Instead, you’ll be left tired and sluggish, which will make you take longer on even the most basic of tasks. To avoid this, you need to prioritize your self-care to boost your mood and energy.
