Every child in the world seems to be watching other kids open up store-bought bath bombs on YouTube. Well, today we’re going to make Surprise Bath Bombs for Kids. Making these bath bombs will not only totally make your kidoes’ day, but it’s also going to save you a ton of money!
Surprise Bath Bombs for Kids
I can’t tell you how many bath bombs I have enjoyed over the years. Well, now you and your kiddoes can make them in the comfort of your own home! For whatever reason, kids LOVE bath bombs. They also love the surprise of finding toys or gadgets inside of the bath bombs. Like hidden treasures!
I mean, what’s more fun then having a fizzy ball in the bath with you and then discovering there’s a little toy inside of it. Let’s get started on how to make these surprise bath bombs for kids!
Ingredients for Bath Bombs
- 8 to 10 bath bomb molds
- 8 to 10 small surprises (These are so fun!) (or These for boys!)
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ½ cup citric acid
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 teaspoon Mica powdered soap dye, if desired
- 10 drops essential oil
- 2 ½ tablespoons coconut oil, melted
- 1 tablespoon water
How to Make Surprise Bath Bombs for Kids
First, you’ll want to take a large bowl. Go ahead and whisk together cornstarch, citric acid, salt, baking soda, and mica powder.
Keep in mind that if you are making more than one color, you’ll want to divide the mixture into separate bowls. This is an important step! -Read: don’t skip this one! 😉
Next, In a small measuring cup, you’ll want to whisk together your essential oil, coconut oil, and water.
This is my favorite part, but very slowly (this will help you avoid as much fizzing as possible) go ahead and add the water solution to the dry. We want them to fizz in the bathtub and NOT while we are mixing them. AmIright?
Then you should very quickly transfer the bath bomb mixture into your bath bomb molds.
Don’t forget to press the mixture very tightly into each side. You’ll want to add a little to overflow each side of the mold.
Press the surprise toy or gadget into the center on one side of the mold. You will then want to squeeze the mold together, go ahead and twist until closed.
The surprise bath bombs will need to rest and dry for at least a whole day or 24 hours.
When you are ready to remove the bath bombs from the mold, you will need to be very gentle. Go ahead and tap the outside of the mold. Twist each side of the mold and gently remove the bath bomb.
If you do plan on giving this bath bomb as a gift, make sure you wrap it very tightly in plastic wrap or even a fun little airtight container.
How to Care for Homemade Bath Bombs
Once you make these bath bombs, you may be wondering how you can care for them. One of my favorite ways for caring for these bath bombs is making sure they are wrapped in plastic wrap. The plastic wrap keeps anything from damaging the bath bomb.
Another way you can care for bath bombs is by getting an airtight container and placing the bath bomb inside of it. You can buy a few super cute containers to store the bath bombs and this also makes a cute gift ideas!
Make sure the bath bombs don’t get wet under any circumstance because they can get ruined before you’re able to use them or give the away. The water activates the fizzing!
The next time you want to make a fun gift for someone, make sure you check out these Surprise Bath Bombs for Kids.
